Another video from VQR - this time on the Aral Sea dying up, which is has always fascinated me, perhaps because it’s a disaster I’ve seen it slowly unraveling as I’ve grown up - I remember as a kid reading about how it was half the size, while now days it’s down to 10 percent. Or maybe the fascination is in the fact that such a massive body of water (once one of the fourth largest lakes in the world) can, in the space of a few generations, completely disappear - it’s like a body of water 35 times bigger than Port Phillip Bay* just disappearing.

*or alternatively, two thirds the size of Tasmania.
